Privacy
ECS Safety Services is committed to safeguarding the personal information provided by our clients and donors. We manage personal information in accordance with the Health Information Act and Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable Federal/Provincial laws. This policy applies to ECS Safety personnel and to any person providing services on our behalf.
Accountability
Every person who provides services on ECS Safety Services behalf is accountable and responsible to protect the privacy of personal information. A designated Privacy Officer is responsible for ensuring members of ECS Safety Services understands their responsibilities with regards to safeguarding private information. The Privacy Officer is available to answer questions about the application of privacy laws to individual situations as well as to receive concerns or questions about compliance.
Identifying Purposes
ECS Safety Services collects, uses and discloses information from clients for the purpose of managing our business and providing occupational services. The purpose of collecting information shall be identified before or at the time the information is collected.
Consent
ECS Safety Services obtains an individuals’ consent before collecting, using or disclosing information. The prior knowledge and permission of the donor is required for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information, except for legal or security reasons.
Limiting Collection of Personal Information
The collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified. Personal information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.
Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention of Personal Information
Personal information will not be used, disclosed or retained for the purposes other than those for which the personal information was collected with permission of the donor, or as permitted or required by law.
Accuracy
Personal information shall be as accurate, complete and current as possible. This information is maintained and received from the donor each time they use our services. Personal information is updated on each new service encounter.
Safeguards
Personal information of donors and clients will be protected by physical, procedural, and technical safeguards to protect against loss, unauthorized access or disclosure.
Openness
ECS Safety Services makes readily available specific information about its policies and practices related to the management of personal information.
Individual Access
ECS Safety Services shall inform clients whether or not it holds personal information about individuals except where permitted by law not to disclose personal information to an individual.
Challenging Compliance
Clients may direct challenges and inquiries about our policies and practices concerning compliance with the above principles to ECS Safety Services Ltd. Privacy Officer.
